While I agree that the length of dR poses challenges to a newcomer, the music is just so glorious, so if you can take a patient person and tell them they'll be rewarded at the very end, it can be a good first opera. Especially if your leads are Fleming and Graham.chelseahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03649489958368298291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2185476854075082873.post-88416088593683138372010-01-11T19:34:05.946-06:002010-01-11T19:34:05.946-06:00Chelsea,

In answer to your question, yes, I was able to go see Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier at a local cinema, and I adored it! This may be expected since it was my first time attending a Metropolitan Opera Live in HD event, but I do not think it would have been a very good opera to try to show to one who is new to the art form since it was four and one-half hours long. Of course, those four and one-half hours contributed to one of the best weekends of my life, and I cannot wait to see Renee Fleming perform live at the Met one of these days. As an aside, I should like to see the Met show the opera quiz over the HD broadcasts. I think it might be a trifle more interesting than the crew building the set on the screen, but that is just my opinion.
-Tyler.Tyler Bartonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17536805564835497095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2185476854075082873.post-27155021184161107782010-01-11T14:36:22.082-06:002010-01-11T14:36:22.082-06:00I double Sarah's sentiments in wishing you a h...I double Sarah's sentiments in wishing you a happy belated birthday! I could not have envisioned a better commencement of my expereince as a blogger than I have been afforded the serene pleasure of having by meeting so many acquaintances. As for my dreams coming true, if they are from God, then I pray that they shall, but if they are not, I pray that He shall spare me such disappointment as a life outside of His will. It is also necessary for me to include that it means very much to me that you, who are such an esteemed person among bloggers and a few of my detached acquaintances, would care to wish me an happy birthday. I am thrilled that I have you for an acquaintance.

-Tyler.Tyler Bartonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17536805564835497095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2185476854075082873.post-51361131919971137492010-01-08T06:53:08.989-06:002010-01-08T06:53:08.989-06:00Happy belated birthday Tyler - may your dreams com...Happy belated birthday Tyler - may your dreams come true!Sarah B.
